The Sanitation Lead role at POM Wonderful is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and safety required in the production of premium food products. This leadership position involves coordinating and guiding the sanitation team to ensure the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that uphold sanitary conditions indispensable to producing safe and high-quality foods. The Sanitation Lead oversees daily sanitation operations, leads department meetings, monitors sanitation efficiency, and ensures proper use and handling of cleaning chemicals.

This opportunity offers an hourly wage range of $23.00 to $25.00 and emphasizes strong leadership skills in maintaining departmental objectives and compliance with sanitation standards. The role requires the incumbent to inspect equipment and work areas, update sanitation procedures as directed by operations management, and actively address any sanitation or performance issues affecting productivity or safety.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in sanitation or a related field preferred
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills
  • Ability to understand and apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Proficient in chemical handling and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead daily team meetings and update sanitation documentation as required

Job Qualifications

  • Able to manage and execute directives
  • Ability to work with chemicals and/or learn proper chemical properties for dilution, mixing and safe handling of chemicals
  • Able to mentor subordinates for successful results and report issues contributing to the inability to execute KPIs, specifically centered on employee performance
  • Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs)

Job Duties

  • Lead team to implement change as the department sees fit to maintain and/or improve department objectives
  • Update Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), or other documents as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Inspect work, materials, products, and equipment to detect unsatisfactory work, defects, or malfunctions and report to supervisor and/or manager
  • Monitor, maintain, and report sanitation efficiency while watching for problems, needs, and changes from usual cleaning schedules or conditions
  • Adhere to sanitation commitments to clean plant and deliver to production daily
  • Lead daily meetings for department employees
  • Ensure that all chemicals are used in proper containers and are properly tagged with correct information
