The organization offers a promising career opportunity for a Full-Time Sanitation Attendant in their Food Services department. This position is based in Memphis, Tennessee, and requires 40 hours of work per week during weekday evening shifts. The Sanitation Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation within the hospital’s kitchen and dining areas across campus. This role supports the culinary and service staff directly by ensuring all food preparation and service areas are spotless, sanitized, and well-stocked with necessary service equipment such as dishes, pots, pans, and silverware.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer service and hospitality, demonstrating flexibility and eagerness to learn new techniques that enhance food service operations. Responsibilities include washing, storing, and maintaining dishware and serviceware following strict health and safety policies, operating and maintaining food service equipment, and ensuring all dining and kitchen areas are clean. Additional duties include the collection and disposal of trash, sanitizing waste receptacles, upkeep of floors and furniture, and assisting with catering preparations and cleanups.

Job Requirements

  • High school education or GED preferred
  • six months of food service or commercial dishwashing experience preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or ANSI accredited Food Handler Training Certificate required within 30 days of hire
  • ability to stand regularly and walk frequently
  • ability to use hands, reach, talk, and hear

Job Duties

  • Washes, stores and maintains an adequate supply of serviceware for food preparation and service
  • retrieves soiled dishware and trays from patient areas
  • scrapes, washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, silverware, and other wares in accordance with policy
  • organizes and stores cleaned dishes and serviceware
  • maintains clean and adequate trays, dishes, silverware during meal times
  • sets up, cleans and maintains food service equipment safely and according to policy
  • utilizes appropriate cleaning tools, chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment
  • reports breakdown or damage of equipment
  • maintains cleanliness of dining room tables, chairs, high chairs, and floors
  • collects, removes, and transports trash and cardboard
  • cleans and sanitizes trash receptacles
  • sweeps and mops floors
  • cleans spills promptly
  • uses wet floor signs during mopping
  • delivers and picks up catering orders as needed
  • cleans up after catering events
  • cleans counters and microwaves in vending areas
  • provides prompt and courteous customer service
  • greets customers in a friendly manner
  • adheres to dress code
  • utilizes service recovery techniques as needed
  • performs other related duties as assigned
  • maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • performs additional duties within the scope of the position
