About the Role: The Sandwich Cook position is integral to the smooth operation of the cafe's kitchen. Under the supervision of the cafe manager, the Sandwich Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of food items, ensuring all products meet the cafe's standards for quality and presentation. This role requires an individual who can efficiently handle cooking equipment such as ovens and stoves, prepare soups, salads, desserts, and beverages accurately, and adhere strictly to food safety and knife handling protocols.
This position demands consistency and attention to detail, especially in following recipe builders and product specifications daily. The Sandwich Cook must also manage food portions accurately to minimize waste and maximize cost-effectiveness. Additionally, duties include assisting in receiving deliveries, stocking and rotating ingredients, and performing deep cleaning to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment. This role also encompasses secondary custodial responsibilities as needed.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with food preparation practices within a restaurant or retail environment and conversant in English to ensure clear communication and adherence to safety and quality requirements. The role requires possession or pursuit of a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid Foodhandler card or ServSafe certification, and the ability to obtain a driver's license when necessary.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to complete CBC driver training
- pass a MVR according to CBC standards
- maintain valid drivers license with insurance (now or when eligible to drive for CBC)
- must be able to understand English (read, speak, write)
- High School diploma or equivalent or in pursuit of same
- possession of State Foodhandler card or ServSafe certification

- preferably minimum of 3 months work experience in a food preparation facility
- experience in a restaurant or retail environment preferred
- ability to understand English (read, speak, write)
Job Duties
- Uses oven and stove to prepare food
- cleans produce
- prepares food (soups, salads, desserts, beverages, etc.) to spec within a specified time limit
- ability to understand and follow food and knife safety procedures
- assists with receiving deliveries and ingredients, stocking ingredients and rotating product
- deep cleaning
- must keep track of waste items and maintain specified food portions
- maintains consistent familiarity with new and current recipes
- uses recipe builders and spec details provided daily to ensure consistency of product served
- performs custodial tasks as required
