The Perishable Representative's core responsibilities include preparing fresh products daily, managing stock levels to keep departments well-supplied, and complying with all food safety and sanitation guidelines. You will interact with customers both in person and over the phone, assisting with selections and answering inquiries to enhance their shopping experience. This role also requires effective use of technology, such as scanning items with Telxon devices for accurate production records and labeling.
In addition to customer service, you will help design and execute merchandising programs tailored to specific departments like floral, seafood, and produce, enhancing product visibility and appeal. Utilizing suggestive selling techniques and making announcements about fresh products help boost sales and meet departmental objectives. The job also involves maintaining store equipment, cleaning display cases, and managing refrigeration units to preserve product freshness.
Each department within the perishable section has specialized tasks. For example, in the meat market, you will cut and trim meats, operate power equipment, and ensure proper storage and rotation. In the produce department, you'll stock and rotate items, cut and wrap produce, and assist the floral department as needed. The seafood area demands knowledge of various fish and shellfish, along with the responsibility of maintaining proper packaging and storage.
This position requires physical stamina to function efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment. You will perform multiple movements such as lifting items up to 90 pounds, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods. Adaptability to varying ambient conditions, such as cold or wet environments typical of seafood and meat departments, is essential.

Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Completion of company orientation and safety training
- Customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of computer systems such as Telxon, ACR, and label machine
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 to 90 pounds depending on department
- Ability to stand, walk, pivot, push, pull, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, twist, and perform fine motor movements
- Willingness to comply with food safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
