The role of Sales Representative at Performance Foodservice is pivotal in driving the company’s independent account business forward. This is a commission-driven position focused on promoting and selling branded products while achieving brand sales objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business within a designated sales territory as well as expanding sales within existing accounts to maximize profitability. Key functions include analyzing sales data for opportunities, conducting sales presentations, and managing customer accounts from initiation through follow-up. Additionally, the Sales Representative works closely with credit, scheduling, and delivery teams to ensure seamless order processing and customer satisfaction. In emergency situations, the employee may also be required to make deliveries personally. A strategic thinker, the individual will monitor pricing trends and maintain competitive positioning of products in the marketplace. This role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a customer-centric approach to building long-term business relationships. Team collaboration within the department and alignment with organizational goals are essential. Job Duties

  • Generates additional business through analyzing sales territory and individual customers
  • samples products with existing and potential customers
  • plans general sales strategy including time and territory management
  • plans sales approach with individual customers
  • conducts effective sales presentations
  • grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals
  • sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing
  • works with Credit Department for initial authorization
  • coordinates order-taking, deliveries, and follow-up to ensure delivery and product satisfaction
  • ensures customer satisfaction by providing exemplary service and resolving customer problems
  • builds additional business with current customers through product penetration
  • minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms
  • monitors pricing trends within sales territory to ensure competitive pricing
  • performs other related duties as assigned
