Job Description

Sysco Corporation is a global leader in the foodservice industry, recognized for its comprehensive distribution of food products, kitchen equipment, and related services to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, and hospitality establishments. With an expansive network and a commitment to supporting communities and associates, Sysco has built a reputation as a purpose-driven company that values innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. The firm emphasizes career development for its employees, offering specialized training programs, a rich benefits package, and opportunities for professional growth within the foodservice sales domain.

The sales position being offered covers the Fort Collins/Greeley, Colorado, area with a clear expectation that candidates either reside within an hour’s commute of the territory or are willing to relocate independently, as relocation assistance is not provided. This role is especially suited for individuals coming from backgrounds such as sales, restaurant management, culinary management, or as chefs who are eager to leverage their industry expertise for career advancement in a major foodservice supplier.

As a member of Sysco's world-class sales team, candidates can expect a competitive base salary, bonus structures, promotional incentives, and allowances such as a company car or mileage reimbursement depending on the state, as well as communication tools like a company-provided cell phone. The role not only demands strong sales capabilities but also offers robust support through ongoing professional training, including specialized sales development and ethnic segment knowledge. Employees are rewarded through recognition programs and enjoy a comprehensive benefits package with features such as an Employee Stock Purchase Plan and an automatic-matching 401(k).

The core responsibility of the position is outside sales—engaging with both existing clients and new prospects to promote Sysco’s products and services. The role emphasizes building strong, sustainable business relationships while driving profitable growth aligned with corporate goals. This includes market analysis, customer needs assessment, and delivering value-added services such as product education and operational support. Given the nature of foodservice, sales hours may extend to evenings, weekends, or holidays, underscoring the role's flexibility and dedication to customer success.

Daily tasks range from business development and account penetration to problem-solving delivery issues and managing accounts receivables in coordination with company departments. This position encourages active participation in company functions, team collaboration, and self-starting strategies to generate and maintain sales momentum. Candidates in this role also serve as brand ambassadors who must remain well-informed about market trends, competitor activities, and innovations in foodservice products.

Ideal candidates would hold a bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, hospitality, culinary arts, or a related discipline, or alternatively possess a high school diploma or GED with three years of related experience in restaurant management, B2B sales, or an equivalent background supplemented by completion of Sysco’s sales internship program. Bilingual skills, restaurant management experience, foodservice sales, or chef experience are advantageous. A valid driver’s license with acceptable insurance coverage is mandatory due to the nature of traveling directly to customer accounts.

Professional skills required include proficiency in basic PC and Microsoft Office applications, as well as strong English communication abilities. The role values competencies such as building trust and customer loyalty, follow-up effectiveness, sales persuasiveness, adaptability, communication, and managing work efficiently. Candidates must also successfully pass employment testing and agree to the company’s protective covenants. This sales career path offers significant development potential in a dynamic, supportive environment where individual and team success are equally celebrated.
