Job Description

Martin Automotive Group, home to Glendora Chevrolet, is a reputable automotive dealership known for its commitment to customer satisfaction, quality vehicle inventory, and exceptional service. Established with the goal of providing top-tier vehicles and an excellent buying experience, the company operates in a fast-paced environment that demands professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication from its team members. Located in Glendora, California, the dealership boasts a wide selection of new and pre-owned vehicles, catering to the diverse needs of its clientele. As part of a dynamic sales department, the dealership focuses on maintaining attractive and operational vehicle inventory while delivering outstanding client interactions.

The Sales Porter position at Martin Automotive Group is a pivotal role within the sales department, reporting directly to Sales Managers, Assistant Sales Managers, the General Sales Manager, or the General Manager. This is a non-exempt, hourly role tailored for individuals who take pride in maintaining automotive aesthetics, ensuring vehicles are in safe and optimal working condition, and assisting managerial staff as needed. The role requires a professional appearance and a responsible attitude, as it contributes directly to the dealership's presentation and operational flow.

This position involves numerous responsibilities geared towards supporting sales efforts, including moving vehicles around the lot according to dealership standards, replenishing fluids, replacing batteries, and keeping both new and used vehicle lots in pristine condition. A Sales Porter must exhibit a keen eye for detailing by washing vehicles and inspecting them for damages, missing accessories, or irregularities. Communication is essential, as the Sales Porter uses two-way radios to coordinate with other staff members and must effectively interact with customers and coworkers.

The role also requires the use of specialized equipment such as key tracking machines to manage vehicle keys securely and efficiently. In addition to these technical tasks, the Sales Porter may prepare new car packets, transport vehicles to service lanes, or pick up cars from vendors, showcasing flexibility and teamwork. Physical tasks such as sweeping lots, trimming tree branches, and general tidying duties also form part of this position's scope, ensuring the outdoor environment remains welcoming and orderly.

Candidates must be prepared to work extended hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, illustrating the ongoing commitment needed in a dealership setting. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability to pass background and motor vehicle record checks are mandatory for this position. The Sales Porter should possess strong communication skills, be able to follow detailed instructions accurately, display good reasoning abilities, and have basic math skills to manage timeframes and schedules.

Safety and environmental awareness are essential, as the work environment includes exposure to heat, noise, humidity, and outdoor elements often seen in car lot settings. Physical fitness is important since the role involves walking, lifting up to 30 pounds, reaching, and frequent movement over varying terrain. Despite the physical demands, reasonable accommodations are made for employees with disabilities to effectively carry out their duties.

Martin Automotive Group values diversity and equal opportunity, fostering an inclusive workplace that does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability.
