Job Description

AutoNation is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, known for offering innovative products, exceptional services, and comprehensive automotive solutions. The company operates a broad network of dealerships nationwide, providing customers with a wide variety of new and used vehicles, financing options, parts, and expert maintenance and repair services. AutoNation is deeply committed to fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion within its workplace and the services it provides. This commitment is reflected in its welcoming culture that encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification. AutoNation also supports community causes and philanthropic initiatives, such as its DRV PNK mission, which has raised over $40 million for cancer research and treatment. Through its strong brand and customer-focused approach, AutoNation empowers customers to make the best decisions for their vehicle needs while providing a supportive and innovative workplace for its employees.

The Porter-New/Used plays a critical role within AutoNation dealerships, being responsible for ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of the vehicle sales lot and dealership property. This role involves a diverse range of duties centered on the sale process and the maintenance of dealership standards. The Porter helps maintain the lot’s appearance by keeping vehicles clean, orderly, and displayed according to dealership guidelines, which is essential for creating a positive first impression for customers. The role also includes transporting customers and dealership personnel when needed, assisting with customer deliveries, and ensuring all window stickers are correctly placed on vehicles for sale. Beyond vehicle handling, the Porter participates in building and grounds maintenance and is involved in weather-related cleanup when necessary. It also involves handling the logistics of vehicle movement, including picking up cars from storage and delivering vehicles to other dealerships or storage locations. This is a hands-on role requiring an individual skilled at safe machinery operation, vehicle transportation across states—including the ability to drive manual transmissions—and basic automotive repair knowledge. AutoNation offers competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, maternity benefits, and a 401k matching program. Additional perks include associate purchase and discount programs on new and pre-owned vehicles, parts, accessories, and exclusive access to deals via YouDecide, a portal with offers from top providers. Working as a Porter at AutoNation provides the opportunity to be part of a respected brand that values innovation, teamwork, and making a positive impact both within the company and in the broader community.
