The current opportunity is for an experienced Sales Manager based at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, Wilmington, DE — Delaware’s premier destination for upscale events, conferences, and banquets. The Chase Center boasts over 75,000 square feet of versatile event space, accommodating everything from intimate gatherings to grand-scale celebrations hosting thousands. Recognized for its elegant settings, impeccable service, and state-of-the-art facilities, the venue stands as a beacon for exceptional event experiences across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. The Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in elevating the venue’s catering and event sales by proactively generating new business, nurturing client relationships, and working collaboratively with multiple internal teams to ensure flawless event execution.

This is a full-time role intended to drive revenue through targeted sales efforts, including prospecting, contract negotiations, and client presentations. Beyond sales, the Sales Manager ensures that the client’s vision is meticulously translated into event details, working closely with the planning and operations teams. This position demands someone with a blend of sales expertise, hospitality knowledge, and organizational skills, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment. The candidate will report to the Director of Sales and is expected to maintain accurate records using systems such as Delphi event management software. Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential to support events as they occur.

Job Requirements

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise
  • must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight
  • must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment
  • Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, or a related field or equivalent industry experience
  • Previous experience in catering event sales, conference services, or event planning
  • Proven success in generating sales and building long-term client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of catering trends, food and beverage, and event operations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-driven, high-volume environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • experience with Delphi is preferred

Job Duties

  • Generate catering and event revenue through targeted prospecting, client retention, and regional outreach
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals
  • Conduct site tours, client presentations, and lead contract negotiations
  • Customize proposals based on client vision, event requirements, and budget
  • Coordinate effectively with the planning team to ensure client expectations are translated into actionable event details
  • Maintain accurate records within the Delphi event management system, including proposals, contracts, and specifications
