Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 6 months related hospitality industry experience and/or training
  • 3-5+ years in a sales role with proven sales success
  • proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • working knowledge of POS systems
  • ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • ability to travel for sales calls and events
  • strong decision-making skills
  • professional business etiquette

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), plus a minimum of 6 months related hospitality industry experience and/or training
  • 3-5+ years in a sales role, with verifiable sales success
  • demonstrated proficiency and successful experience in catering sales generation, contract negotiation and pricing, event scheduling, training, catering, banquets, and menu development
  • ability to work independently both on and off venue property with little supervision or oversight
  • demonstrated proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on creating Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and email)
  • working knowledge of POS systems
  • ability to adhere to a high standard of business etiquette and professional verbal and written communication
  • ability to consistently represent the company in a professional, positive, and knowledgeable manner
  • ability to adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality and discretion
  • demonstrated ability to produce detail-oriented, accurate work
  • ability to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and evenings, as required to ensure an outcome
  • ability to travel to outside sales calls and/or events

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the prospecting, selling, cultivating and maintaining of sales accounts
  • coordinate all aspects of the sales solicitation process, including account lists, tracking, and calls
  • assist with promotions and direct mail activities
  • responsible for creation/implementation of new ideas/opportunities that drive revenue to the Ortiz International Center
  • primary sales contact for all groups within assigned market(s)
  • prepare event contracts, sales folders, sales kits, and correspondence to clients
  • responsible for achieving established sales goals and objectives for venue usage by promoting the conference center to all potential clients
  • conduct venue tours, answer client questions, and provide information on venue services, policies, and procedures
  • enter and maintain complete and accurate information into the booking system
  • help in creation and development of sales presentation materials
  • maximize OVG's catering revenue through creative sales techniques and customer focus
  • manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all sales programs and activities
  • plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for providing marketing, booking, and sales services
  • prepare written proposals
  • reevaluate potential business value of various events and clients
  • initiate contractual arrangements
  • conduct tours of the facility for potential clients
  • meet with General Manager regularly to discuss sales operations
  • responsible for all revenue generation opportunities
  • develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth
  • identify and pursue new business opportunities in corporate, social, and special event markets
  • analyze market trends and competitor activity to adapt and innovate sales approaches
  • set clear performance goals and KPIs for the sales department
  • provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development for team members
  • build and nurture strong relationships with key accounts, event planners, venue partners, and vendors
  • oversee the sales process from inquiry through booking, ensuring client needs are met with professionalism and creativity
  • create menu packages in collaboration with culinary leadership
  • establish pricing guides based on competitive analysis of market rates
  • define service levels according to a variety of event types and menu formats
  • constantly refine design of catering presentation in collaboration with culinary and marketing leadership
  • work closely with culinary, operations, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on client expectations and company goals
  • support the development of marketing materials and campaigns to generate leads and brand awareness
  • garner deeper industry relationships through memberships and networking event participation
  • produce a weekly sales report
  • manage new menu rollout to develop sales tools and train on menu proficiency
  • communicate and promote OVG's culture and values
  • provide hands-on leadership and direction to catering sales staff
  • contribute to the efficient operation of the assigned unit by partnering with operations in providing support, information, insight, analysis, and recommendations in matters pertaining to guest service, menu development, creative event planning, revenue generation, and other functions pertaining to catering sales
  • participate in special projects related to the development and implementation of organizational, HR, and general business strategies
  • perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
