The role of Sales Manager is an exciting opportunity within the Kaimana Beach Hotel in Hawaii, a distinguished property managed by Highgate Hotels. The Sales Manager will be responsible for soliciting a wide range of accounts across designated market segments with the goal of significantly enhancing hotel revenues. This role demands a high degree of familiarity with the hotel’s operations, including engagement with Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations departments, to provide prospective clients with comprehensive insight during site inspections and sales presentations. The Sales Manager will utilize strategic sales techniques focused on maximizing occupancy rates and Average Daily Rate (ADR). This includes prospecting new business, generating leads, conducting outside sales calls, and representing the hotel at industry tradeshows and events to build a robust client base.

Sales Managers at Highgate are expected to implement plans that align with company sales policies and standard operating procedures, driving sales activities within an approved expense budget. Responsibilities extend to reporting on account production and sales performance, maintaining consistent account contact through proactive engagement, and assisting with special promotional campaigns to boost direct sales. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively negotiate and close sales transactions with both current and prospective clients.

This full-time position requires a minimum of two years of progressive hotel sales experience, proficiency in Windows operating systems and relevant software, and possession of a valid driver’s license. The job may demand physical tasks such as lifting or moving light objects occasionally and working extended hours as needed to fulfill business objectives. Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience
  • Must have a driver’s license in the applicable state
  • Must be proficient in Windows, company approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to work long hours when required
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently
  • Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Compliance with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations
  • Ability to handle and solve problems proactively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling

Job Duties

  • Be familiar with all Highgate Hotel sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and average daily rate (ADR)
  • Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
  • Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
  • Develop and execute plans to engage in outside sales calls, industry tradeshows and customer events
  • Meet or exceed set goals
  • Research, solicit and generate new leads for business opportunities through database research and proactive sales efforts, maximizing new room revenue and meet and exceed lead generation goals
  • Attend daily Group RevMAX meeting and weekly sales meeting as needed
  • Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget
  • Provide office coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of each account
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, tours and site inspections
  • Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e. parties, sales blitzes, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
  • Use your property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including (but not limited to) generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts
  • Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST)
  • Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events
  • Manage and negotiate sales transactions, ensuring smooth and successful closings
