The role of Sales Manager at Gillman Home Center is a full-time, highly dynamic position based out of the Central Office in Batesville, IN. The Sales Manager will oversee the company's Outside Sales and Kitchen & Bath Design teams, providing leadership, training, and day-to-day support to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction. This role is integral to ensuring that both internal team members and customers receive excellent support throughout the sales cycle. The Sales Manager will be responsible for coaching and mentoring the sales and design teams, proactively assisting with project needs, and fostering strong relationships with customers and contractors in the field.
This individual will also engage directly with customers to handle inquiries, provide product information, facilitate pricing and quotations, and ensure smooth scheduling for deliveries and installations. A deep knowledge of construction, including residential and commercial framing and a variety of building materials such as windows, doors, millwork, and trusses, will be essential for success. The role requires independent work and teamwork alike to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include vendor negotiations to secure showroom display fixtures, maintaining accurate sales documentation, setting sales goals, and providing performance feedback and reviews for the sales team.
The Sales Manager must be able to balance office-based duties with on-the-road visits to retail store locations, customers, and contractors. The working hours are typically Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an average workweek of 45 hours. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in the building materials/construction industry
- 5+ years managing a sales team
- Valid driver’s license

Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service to our team members, customers and vendors
- Actively meet with sales and designer representatives to see if they need any help on projects they are working on
- Make sure they have the tools and proper information to do their job
- Coach, train, mentor outside sales and design team
- Meet with customers/contractors in the field, make connections in the community, leave a good impression
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, complaints and scheduling of deliveries and installations
- Provide customer follow-ups
- Knowledge of construction in residential and commercial framing along with other building materials such as windows, doors, interior and exterior mill-work, and trusses
- Able to work independently and with sales team members to ensure customer satisfaction
- Train team members on GHC products and service offerings
- Make sure sales representatives have proper cost information and training from vendors
- Negotiate with vendors to ensure our stores have most up to date display fixtures for our show rooms
- Hold sales team accountable for completing accurate and complete invoices, work orders, and sales tickets
- Set sales goals for sales and design team members
- Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed
- Ensure our sales representatives are representing GHC in a positive way
- Provide feedback and reviews to sales team
- Other duties as assigned
