The Sales Manager position at Pacific Hospitality Group presents an exciting opportunity for a results-driven professional to contribute directly to the company’s revenue objectives by implementing a strategic account management approach. The role is pivotal in achieving and exceeding sales targets through comprehensive account penetration within designated business market segments. This position requires a talented individual to maximize hotel profitability by developing new client relationships and nurturing existing ones, with an emphasis on cross-selling opportunities across transient, group, and catering sales segments for Hotel Viata and the broader PHG Collection.

The Sales Manager is tasked with active prospecting, leveraging network channels, and research to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities. They will engage with corporate, association, government, consortia, and wholesale accounts to expand the hotel’s client base and revenue streams. The role is designed for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, maintaining a keen understanding of market trends and customer needs.

Moreover, the Sales Manager is expected to play an active role in industry organizations, attend trade shows, participate in sales blitzes, and conduct presentations to prospective clients, thereby enhancing the hotel’s profile and expanding its market reach. Building and maintaining long-term client relationships through consistent communication and excellent customer service is key to sustaining revenue growth.

The successful candidate will handle a variety of responsibilities including responding to RFPs, preparing proposals, maintaining client data in computer systems, and conducting business reviews. They will also participate in local community activities and familiarization trips to enrich the hotel’s business development initiatives.

This role requires a blend of strong sales acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a professional demeanor. The Sales Manager must also demonstrate the ability to problem-solve, handle confidential information with discretion, and adapt to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry with flexible scheduling, including holidays and weekends. Proficiency with hospitality management systems such as Opera, Infor, and other related software is preferred.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two or more years of related sales experience
  • Knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Ability to work in a high volume, time sensitive environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business Management desired
  • Two or more years of related sales experience such as Catering/Event Sales, Event Coordination, Travel Manager, Travel Advisor/Agent or Executive Meeting Manager in a hotel or company
  • Possess solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Ability and experience in successfully selling and working in a high volume, time sensitive environment
  • Ability to learn, follow and maintain effective sale processes designed to attain maximum revenue while ensuring adherence to established operating criteria
  • Completes all required training as scheduled
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques with strong skills and ability to negotiate and close sales
  • Requires ability to determine needs of customers and persuasively present sales options through verbal face-to-face, video conferencing, email and telephone interactions
  • Must be able to create and effectively provide sales presentations and materials to potential customers
  • Contacts sometimes contain confidential/sensitive information so requires ability to use discretion
  • Must demonstrate positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Must be able to solve problems and remain calm and alert if dealing with difficult guest, during busy activity periods or in an emergency situation
  • Requires working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to learn and use telephone and computer systems used at the hotel
  • Proficiency with HMS like Opera, Fosse, Infor, Concur, etc, preferred
  • Familiarity with DELPHI, Agency360, STR Reporting, Teams, Zoom, SynXis, Lighthouse, Sertifi, Lanyon, Knowland, CoStar, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn, etc, preferred
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel
  • Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
  • Position requires working from property location
  • Position will require some travel to industry events, sales missions, etc
  • Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor

Job Duties

  • Actively solicit new business opportunities through prospecting new customers including groups, travel managers, travel agents and hotel guests
  • Use network channels to open doors to new customers
  • Seek methods to penetrate key business activities within the marketplace and find profitable ways to bring this business to the hotel
  • Research information on market and trends and the clients supporting those markets locally
  • Develop corporate, association, government, consortia, wholesale accounts
  • Actively participate in industry related organizations attending trade shows, community events and industry meetings to develop business
  • Participate in Sales blitzes and make onsite and field presentations to prospective clients
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients or potential clients by maintaining consistent verbal and written communications and providing good customer service
  • Analyze requirements of business opportunities researching and maintaining knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
  • Respond to RFPs via Lanyon and direct proposals
  • Prepare correspondence to customers and maintain Business Travel Workbook information and production and client data
  • Maintain detailed information about clients/prospective clients and enter data into propertys computer systems
  • Attend Business Review Meetings
  • Research new companies
  • Create and implement direct marketing campaigns
  • Attend training and make presentations
  • Conduct familiarization trips
  • Participate in local community to develop business
  • Respond to guest and client inquiries and coordinate special arrangements and requests
  • Resolve guest and client complaints within scope of authority or refer the matter to upper management
  • Notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events or circumstances
