The Sales Manager position at Great Wolf Lodge is a crucial role designed to drive the group sales segment, focusing primarily on securing and converting high-margin sales opportunities. This role is bonus eligible and offers a competitive annual base salary of $60,000. The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing a robust outbound prospecting strategy targeting shoulder and off-peak group business—this includes group room and event sales that contribute significantly to the overall financial success of the lodge. Success in this role requires a strategic approach to networking, business development, client relationship management, and exceptional sales skills.

Key responsibilities of the Sales Manager involve cultivating new business through innovative outreach efforts and nurturing existing client relationships for repeat business and lifetime value. This position also demands proficiency in preparing compelling proposals, negotiating contract terms, and efficiently managing a sales pipeline using a CRM system. The Sales Manager will actively represent Great Wolf Lodge at local and regional trade shows, consistently promoting the Groups brand and uncovering new market opportunities.

Furthermore, the Sales Manager plays an active role in coordinating with various departments to ensure seamless event execution, timely communication regarding group accommodations, and resolving client issues proactively. Attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic and deadline-driven setting are essential traits for this role. The Sales Manager must have a strong foundation in hospitality event sales, proven by a minimum of four years of relevant experience, combined with solid communication skills and a Bachelor’s degree in hotel, hospitality, or a related field.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel or hospitality or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 4 years in sales with specific experience in hospitality event or conference sales
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen
  • Successful Department of Motor Vehicle check
  • Professional communication skills both verbal and written

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute comprehensive outbound prospecting strategy to secure new and existing group room and event business
  • Increase market share through effective networking, research and business development activities
  • Convert group and meeting inquiries to sales via fast response time and exceptional sales skills
  • Represent Great Wolf at local and regional trade and travel shows
  • Demonstrate strong account management fundamentals including effective CRM usage and pipeline management
  • Build and maintain key client relationships generating repeat business and lifetime value
  • Prepare compelling group proposals, sales materials and contracts resulting in sales wins
  • Deliver on assigned group room and catering sales goals
  • Exercise authority to skillfully negotiate contracting terms including pricing for meeting room rental and audio visual
  • Submit weekly reports documenting sales activities, converted business and pipeline progression
  • Create and update quarterly sales action plans outlining business development objectives and market segment strategy
  • Provide consultation to clients on all aspects of lodge’s facilities and services
  • Monitor room blocks and communicate with appropriate property personnel on group room pick-ups and rooming lists
  • Represent the lodge in investigating and resolving any group complaints or conflicts
  • Complete Banquet Event Orders and Resumes for clients and operations departments
  • Provide detailed information on meeting-specific needs throughout the booking process
  • Enter accurate rooming lists, routing information, tax-exempt status and verification of payment in Company software systems
  • Maintain Posting Master account ledger by tracking all open PM accounts
