Job Description
Crestline Hotels & Resorts is a well-established company recognized for its dedication to delivering superior hospitality experiences through its portfolio of properties. As a leader in the hotel and resort industry, Crestline Hotels & Resorts operates numerous hotels that cater to a wide range of guests including leisure travelers, corporate clients, and event organizers. This respected company is committed to excellence in service delivery and operational efficiency, striving to create memorable stays for its guests. Crestline Hotels & Resorts emphasizes a supportive workplace culture that values innovation, professional growth, and teamwork, making it an attractive employer within the hospitality industry. The organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Affirmative Action Employer, ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all employees and applicants without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability status.
The role of Sales Manager at Crestline Hotels & Resorts is instrumental in driving revenue growth and maintaining strong client relationships within assigned markets. The Sales Manager's core mission involves soliciting sales, contracting hotel rooms, and coordinating with transient demand and group business to maximize occupancy and generate significant revenue for the hotel. This position requires a proactive approach to both maintaining relationships with existing accounts and pursuing new business opportunities. Sales Managers are expected to formulate and implement strategic sales plans designed to attract, retain, and expand the hotel's clientele. The role involves a variety of activities such as telephone prospecting, conducting outside sales calls, performing site inspections, attending trade shows, industry meetings, and community events, as well as preparing tailored sales proposals to meet client needs.
A critical function of the Sales Manager is to skillfully respond to leads from multiple sources to maximize conversion rates, engage in competitive market analysis, and creatively position available hotel spaces to optimize revenue. The individual must be well-versed in negotiating contracts within established company guidelines and ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of client communications are maintained using sales software. Furthermore, the Sales Manager fosters strong personal engagement by introducing customers to service staff during onsite visits and following up post-function to ensure client satisfaction and identify further business opportunities.
This role also requires a collaborative spirit; Sales Managers assist fellow team members when needed and contribute to the development of the department's annual business plans and budgets alongside the Director of Sales. Responsibilities extend to drafting and executing sales action plans, managing flexible work hours, and occasional overnight travel. Additional duties may include handling details related to rooming lists, catering selections, function setups, billing and payment trace files, and communication with operational departments to align services with client requirements.
Ideal candidates for this position possess a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those holding a bachelor’s degree. Candidates should bring one to two years of experience in hotel or conference center sales or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips them with applicable knowledge and skills. Proficiency in various computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, property management systems, sales software, and timekeeping applications is integral to the role. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, alongside advanced expertise in sales techniques, revenue management, action plan execution, and hotel operations. The ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate tasks efficiently is also crucial. Preferred experience includes prior hotel sales work, which complements the comprehensive skill set required for success in this dynamic and influential position within the hospitality sales domain.
