The Associate Lead position at Chico's FAS is a key role responsible for supporting store management in day-to-day store operations to ensure an excellent customer experience and optimize store profitability. This position involves performing various sales and register transactions and actively promoting a customer-centric environment. The Associate Lead acts as a role model by motivating, coaching, and training store associates to meet sales goals and uphold the standards of the brand. The role requires maintaining awareness of customers to enhance service and reduce security risks while ensuring adherence to operational policies related to payments, exchanges, and loss prevention.

This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to cash handling, price changes, merchandise management, payroll documentation review, sales activity monitoring, and scheduling. The Associate Lead also participates in visual merchandising and presentation to align with current promotions and company standards. Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through clienteling techniques is an essential aspect of this role.

In addition to frontline activities, the Associate Lead supports inventory management and supervises associates engaged in sales and customer service functions on the sales floor. This role demands excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Individuals must be capable of standing and maneuvering on the sales floor and stockroom, handling merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, and performing physical tasks such as climbing and reaching.

Starting compensation ranges from $16.92 to $21.15 per hour or city/local minimum wage as applicable, with eligibility for participation in the company’s employee assistance and employee discount programs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years prior retail or sales management experience preferred
  • must be 18 years old or older

Job Duties

  • Promotes customer service by ensuring associates are greeting and assisting customers
  • responds to customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner
  • performs basic operations activities including cash handling and reporting, price changes, merchandise handling, and open and closing duties
  • reviews time sheets and other payroll documentation for accuracy and submits as appropriate
  • monitors associate sales activities and productivity
  • acknowledges and communicates performance to associates
  • motivates and trains associates to achieve full potential
  • maintains an awareness of customers to increase service levels and reduce security risks
  • remains current on operational policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
  • maintains knowledge of current sales and promotions
  • presents and displays merchandise in accordance with current promotions and standards
  • supports and administers receipt and dispatch of inventory and supplies according to company policy
  • supervises associates engaged in sales, inventory receipt, reconciling cash receipts, or in performing services for customers
  • prepares weekly schedules to ensure proper floor coverage within fiscal guidelines
  • models sales expectations by utilizing various techniques and communicating product knowledge to the customer
  • recommends merchandise selections or helps to locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires
  • builds and maintains a solid customer following through clienteling and wardrobing
  • maintains standards in merchandise handling, presentation, loss prevention, and all other duties as directed by management
  • participates in and facilitates visual directives including monthly store sets and merchandise replenishment
  • assists in the development of store associates
  • interprets Key Performance Indicator reports and delivers coaching as needed
  • provides feedback to Store Manager for associate performance appraisals and evaluations
  • other duties as assigned
