The Sales/Cashier position at Melrose is a crucial role that goes beyond the traditional function of processing transactions. Your role also involves communicating important store programs such as the MStyle Loyalty Program to encourage customer participation, which helps build customer loyalty and drives ongoing sales.

In addition to payment tasks, the role calls for assisting with merchandising activities like floor moves, display maintenance, and general housekeeping, ensuring the store environment remains clean, safe, and visually appealing. You may also support cycle counts and inventory preparation, contributing to accurate stock management. Since the Sales/Cashier is often a customer’s main contact point, the ability to answer questions effectively and escalate complex issues to management ensures customer concerns are swiftly resolved, promoting a positive store reputation.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cashier or retail experience preferred
  • Ability to handle cash accurately
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts
  • Ability to stand for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • Basic PC knowledge
  • Familiarity with electronic equipment such as scanners and cash registers

Job Duties

  • Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
  • Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and accurately maintain all cash and media at the registers
  • Maintain orderly appearance of cash wrap
  • Receive payment by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits
  • Communicate the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers and ask them to sign up
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and general housekeeping when requested by management
  • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
  • Participate in preparation for cycle counts
  • Assist customers in the fitting rooms as needed
  • Answer customer questions and get a manager if answer doesn’t solve the issue
  • Clean shelves, counters, tables, racks, fixtures, employee restroom, stockroom, break room, sweep or mop when assigned
