The scope of Orthopaedics at Johnson & Johnson includes joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial surgery, sports medicine, extremities, elective foot and ankle, spine, as well as robotics and digital surgery.

The role being offered is Sales Associate in the Washington DC territory including the Northern Virginia region. This position is part of Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes Trauma division, which provides a comprehensive portfolio of trauma care solutions ranging from simple to complex injury treatments utilizing traditional and minimally invasive techniques. The Sales Associate plays a critical role in supporting clinical and customer needs in hospitals and during surgical procedures. The role encompasses a broad set of responsibilities including providing expert product knowledge, clinical guidance, and technical assistance to surgeons and hospital staff. Sales Associates contribute to achieving sales goals by helping retain existing clients and penetrating new accounts, managing surgeon and account relationships, and ensuring the availability and proper use of DePuy Synthes products and solutions.

This is a commission-based sales position requiring individuals who are organized, self-motivated, and exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates need to have a blend of strategic thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and business acumen, coupled with technical expertise in surgical instruments and clinical procedures. The role involves working in lab and operating room environments, traveling within the designated territory, and supporting customers during surgeries to optimize product utilization and customer satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or associate degree or medical certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional and/or related experience or minimum of 4 years of professional and/or related experience or recently transitioned from active military duty
  • Ability to work in lab/operating room environment
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Ability to travel including weekend and/or overnight travel
  • Residence in or willingness to relocate to the posted territory
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong influencing, strategic thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong business acumen

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Associate degree or medical certification (CST, PT, etc.) plus minimum of 2 years of professional and/or related experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional and/or related experience
  • Recently transitioned from active military duty
  • Ability to work in a lab/operating room environment
  • Valid driver's license issued in the United States
  • Ability to travel including weekend and/or overnight travel
  • Residence in or willingness to relocate to the posted territory
  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, influencing, strategic thinking, problem solving and business acumen skills
  • Efficient, organized, self-motivated, positive and pro-active
  • Strong technical product knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, protocols and solutions preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist DePuy Synthes sales organization in retaining and supporting further penetration with existing customers while supporting product conversions with new customers
  • Assist in the attainment of established sales goals including market share objectives in prescribed territory
  • Guide and assist surgeons in the operating room through their clinical and product knowledge
  • Use product knowledge to present, demonstrate, and ensure proper utilization of DePuy Synthes products
  • Support customers by attending surgeries, assuring that the proper equipment is available and performing, including ways to optimize trays
  • Provide Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department consultation
  • Troubleshoot and provide other technical assistance
  • handle customer requests, effectively manage hospital billing, create/close purchase orders
  • Share key customer, procedural and marketplace insights with other sales, clinical, marketing and strategic account teams to improve on solutions/service levels
  • Prepare sales reports and documents as required
  • Maintain, track and ensure effective deployment of equipment and assets throughout assigned area ensuring product availability
  • Ensure all promotional materials are maintained in a presentable manner
  • Ensure DePuy Synthes Services and offerings meet highest quality standards
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and retention and improving the customers’ insights into DePuy Synthes tangible and non-tangible value proposition and solutions
  • Differentiate DPS’s products versus competition by providing the customer unique insights
