The Sales Associate position is based in Dayton, Ohio, and focuses on the Orthopaedics business within DePuy Synthes, a Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Company. This role is pivotal in supporting and increasing market penetration of DePuy Synthes trauma and orthopaedic products in a competitive healthcare marketplace. DePuy Synthes offers one of the most comprehensive orthopaedic portfolios globally, spanning joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial, spinal surgery, sports medicine and emerging areas like robotics and digital surgery.

As a Sales Associate, the candidate will collaborate closely with surgeons and healthcare professionals within hospital operating rooms to provide clinical expertise, product knowledge, and patient-centric solutions. The role demands supporting product conversions, case coverage, and facilitating seamless customer service through well-organized logistics and technical support. Continuous relationship management with surgeons and healthcare clients is essential to driving loyalty and differentiation of DePuy Synthes solutions. Sales Associates play a key role in gathering market and customer insights, which they share internally to improve customer satisfaction and enhance product offerings.

This is a dynamic, commission-based sales role requiring frequent travel within the Dayton territory and active involvement in clinical environments. The role suits individuals with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, technical acumen related to surgical instruments and procedures, and a proactive, positive, self-motivated attitude. The successful candidate will be organized, efficient, and strategic, capable of navigating complex hospital settings and influencing purchase decisions through clinical collaboration.

Johnson & Johnson is in the process of separating its Orthopaedics business into a standalone company operating as DePuy Synthes. Upon completion of this transition, expected within 18 to 24 months, employees in this role will be governed under DePuy Synthes' employment policies and benefit plans. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree or medical certification plus minimum of 2 years of professional and/or related experience or minimum of 4 years of professional and/or related experience or recently transitioned from active military duty
  • Ability to work in a lab/operating room environment
  • Valid driver’s license issued in the United States
  • Ability to travel including weekend and/or overnight travel
  • Residence in or willingness to relocate to the posted territory
  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, influencing, strategic thinking, problem solving and business acumen skills
  • Efficient, organized, self-motivated, positive and pro-active
  • Strong technical product knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, protocols and solutions preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist DePuy Synthes sales organization in retaining and supporting customers
  • Support product conversions with new customers
  • Guide and assist surgeons in the operating room with clinical and product knowledge
  • Attend surgeries to ensure proper equipment availability and optimize instrument trays
  • Provide consultation to Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance including managing hospital billing and purchase orders
  • Share customer, procedural and market insights with sales and marketing teams
  • Maintain and deploy equipment to ensure product availability
  • Ensure promotional materials are presentable and services meet quality standards
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and retention by differentiating products from competitors
