The Sales Associate role at Dollar General is a vital and customer-facing position focused on delivering exceptional service and maintaining store operations to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently during shifts
  • Capability to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 40 pounds frequently, with occasional lifting up to 55 pounds
  • Ability to use retail equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, and carts
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and moderately noisy environment
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions when setting up outdoor displays

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices
  • Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to perform cash register functions
  • Ability to stock merchandise

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers
  • Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer purchases, collect payment, make change, and bag merchandise
  • Follow company merchandise processes, including unpacking, stocking, restocking, rotating merchandise, and building displays
  • Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop floors, clean restrooms and receiving rooms, and set up sidewalk displays
  • Assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • Protect company assets by adhering to store policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction
