The Sales Associate role at Dollar General serves as the essential point of contact between customers and the store. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to perform cash register operations accurately
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and adherence to safety procedures
  • Ability to follow planogram and merchandise presentation guidelines
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions
  • Capability to stock and rotate merchandise
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally
  • Comfortable with frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling
  • Able to handle equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, and rolltainers
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Availability for part-time employment

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers
  • Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer’s purchase, collect payment from customers and make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • Follow company merchandise processes
  • unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise on shelves and build merchandise displays
  • Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, clean restroom and receiving room, and help set up sidewalk displays
  • Assist the Store Manager with other duties assigned to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets
  • Handle merchandise and equipment safely such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats, and rolltainers
  • Maintain proper lifting techniques with frequent lifting up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting up to 55 pounds
  • Work in a fast-paced retail environment with moderate noise levels
  • Occasionally perform climbing tasks using step ladders up to six feet
