The Sales Associate role at Dollar General is an essential position that serves as the frontline point of contact for customers. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to frequently walk and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, push, and pull rolltainers for stocking
  • Capability to lift merchandise up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 55 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to climb using a step ladder up to six feet
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise
  • Ability to occasionally work outside in various weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices
  • Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to perform cash register functions
  • Ability to stock merchandise

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers
  • Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total purchase, collect payment, make change, and bag merchandise
  • Follow company merchandise processes including unpacking, stocking, restocking, rotating products, and building displays
  • Clean the store including taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms and receiving areas
  • Help set up sidewalk displays
  • Assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager
