Job Description
Penske Truck Leasing is a premier global transportation provider headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania. The company is recognized for delivering essential and innovative solutions in transportation, logistics, and technology services. Penske plays a critical role in helping companies and individuals move forward efficiently and effectively by combining cutting-edge technology with a dedicated workforce committed to excellence and customer success. With numerous locations across the United States, Penske offers abundant career opportunities for motivated individuals seeking to expand their skills and grow within a dynamic industry.
The Sales and Operations Management Trainee position at Penske is designed for recent graduates and emerging professionals who are eager to take charge, think quickly, and move forward in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic training directly to business management, solving real-time problems while supporting customer success and operational excellence. This entry-level management role provides comprehensive training in various aspects of the business including sales, operations, finance, customer service, and innovative technology platforms. You will be introduced to the company’s sales processes and culture through ongoing mentorship, helping you build a solid foundation to succeed in a leadership capacity.
In this role, you will engage with both consumer and commercial customers, including many Fortune 500 companies, offering tailored solutions that meet their transportation and logistics needs. Managing a large inventory of nationally recognized vehicles, maintaining a balance between fleet productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction, will be a central component of your responsibilities. The role also requires generating new business leads, fostering long-term relationships with existing clients, and ensuring customers receive an exceptional service experience in a dynamic and demanding environment. Flexibility is key, as the position requires working holidays, weekends, and occasional travel within the district.
Penske values its employees by offering competitive compensation starting at $25 per hour or $52,000 annually, with additional premium pay for weekend work. The company also emphasizes career advancement opportunities following a 6 to 9-month structured training period, which includes a substantial base pay increase. This role's location in Phoenix, Arizona, is part of a nationwide network where the trainee can grow, develop management skills, and progress toward more senior leadership positions. The position requires maintaining a valid driver’s license and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations due to the nature of driving company and customer vehicles, including 26-foot box trucks.
Working at Penske means joining a team-driven culture that promotes effective communication, results orientation, and attention to detail. As a Sales and Operations Management Trainee, you will not only develop essential leadership skills but also learn the importance of safety, integrity, and operational excellence in the transportation industry. Penske supports employees with flexible scheduling, excellent benefits, associate incentives, and various discount programs, underlining its commitment to employee satisfaction and well-being. Those who thrive in a lively, fast-moving environment and are passionate about building a career in management will find Penske a rewarding place to grow their professional journey.
