The Sales and Operations Management Trainee position at Penske represents an excellent career opportunity for recent graduates eager to step into a fast-paced business environment. The position starts with a competitive hourly wage of at least $25.00 per hour or approximately $52,000 annually, including premium pay for weekend shifts. Following a 6-9 month intensive training program, successful trainees can expect advancement opportunities and a significant base pay increase. This role requires flexibility with schedules, including availability on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the transportation industry.

In the Sales and Operations Management Trainee role, associates actively develop customer solutions for both local and national accounts, including engagements with many Fortune 500 companies. Trainees will manage an extensive inventory of world-class vehicles, carefully balancing fleet productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction in a fast-moving environment. They will generate new business leads, nurture existing relationships, and ensure that customers receive exceptional service. Trainees will benefit from ongoing training and mentoring, working alongside a motivated team to build foundational management skills that support career progression within Penske's extensive network.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree required
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to drive Penske vehicles including a 26' box truck
  • must maintain a current driver qualification file as per DOT regulations
  • willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • ability to undergo background check and drug screening
  • regular attendance
  • ability to work safely and maintain alertness

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree required, preferred concentration in business or marketing
  • effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • internship or related work experience in a customer facing role preferred
  • results oriented, attention to detail and good time management skills
  • a valid driver's license is required, as is the ability and willingness to drive Penske vehicles, including a 26' box truck
  • regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • willingness to travel as necessary within the district
  • ability to maintain a current driver qualification file as regulated by DOT including annual MVR checks and completed DOT physical
  • ability to work in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness
  • ability to accept responsibility for own safety as well as the safety of others

Job Duties

  • develop consumer and commercial customer solutions to local and national accounts including many of the Fortune 500
  • manage our large inventory of world class and nationally recognized vehicles balancing fleet productivity, profitability and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced and dynamic workspace
