Job Description

Panera Bread is a renowned bakery-cafe chain dedicated to serving fresh, high-quality food and beverages in a warm and welcoming environment. Recognized widely for its commitment to quality ingredients and excellent customer service, Panera offers more than just meals; it provides a place where both customers and employees can thrive. As a company, Panera emphasizes the value of its people, fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes growth, support, authenticity, and community. Its mission revolves around making the familiar fantastic by embracing innovation while maintaining the comfort of a trusted neighborhood bakery. Employees at Panera are given the opportunity to develop personally and professionally through comprehensive training, advancement opportunities, and a variety of benefits designed to support their well-being and career aspirations.

The role of a Retail Team Member focusing on Salad and Sandwich Making at Panera Bread is vital to the daily operations and overall guest experience. This position is tailored for individuals who enjoy working with fresh food ingredients and bringing smiles to customers by delivering freshly prepared salads and sandwiches with accuracy and speed. Unlike fast-food assembly lines, the job involves real culinary skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. This role demands a flexible schedule including nights and weekends to accommodate the pace and shifting priorities typical of the food service industry. Employees in this position will engage in tasks ranging from food preparation, plating soups, assembling menu items, to maintaining cleanliness and stock levels to ensure seamless handoffs between shifts. The environment is fast-paced yet supportive, encouraging team members to stay positive, be adaptable, and work collaboratively.

Panera supports its team members with competitive pay ranging from $16.37 to $19.00 per hour, along with eligibility for team tips, making this a rewarding opportunity financially as well as experientially. Beyond pay, employees benefit from free on-shift meals and unlimited fountain beverages, flexible and reliable scheduling, and paid time off including vacation, sick time, and holidays for full-time staff. Panera also offers comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and pet insurance, along with a 401(k) plan that includes company matching to help employees plan for their future. The company further invests in its workforce through tuition discounts, career advancement opportunities, leadership development, rewarding team member perks, and an assistance program designed to support employees during those times they need it most.

Working at Panera means joining a culture committed to warmth, belonging, growth, and trust, where team members are valued as individuals and encouraged to be themselves. The Salad and Sandwich Maker role is not just a job; it’s an entry point into a community that celebrates success together, values initiative, works as a team, and makes every guest interaction positive and memorable. This is an excellent opportunity for young individuals starting their career, food lovers, or anyone who wants to accelerate their growth in a supportive, fun, and ever-evolving restaurant environment.
