Job Description

Panera Bread is a well-established bakery-cafe fast-casual restaurant known for its commitment to quality food and exceptional customer service. Founded with the mission to provide fresh, wholesome food in a welcoming environment, Panera has grown into a brand that prides itself on community involvement, employee growth, and innovation in the food industry. As a company, Panera places its people first, fostering a culture where employees can thrive, feel supported, and be themselves. The company is dedicated to offering its team members great perks, rewarding experiences, and a workplace that balances professionalism with fun and positivity.

The role of Retail Team Member, Salad and Sandwich Maker at Panera Bread is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and customer service. This role is designed for those who enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while engaging with real ingredients to create fresh salads, soups, and sandwiches. Unlike assembly line positions at typical fast-food outlets, this role emphasizes quality, accuracy, and the art of food assembly, ensuring that each order meets Panera's high standards for taste and presentation.

Employees in this position are expected to stay informed about daily priorities, maintain a positive attitude throughout their shifts, and demonstrate adaptability as tasks and orders vary. Key responsibilities include timely cleaning and stocking duties to prepare for the next team, assembling menu items efficiently while maintaining speed and accuracy targets, and delivering warm, friendly service to every guest to guarantee a memorable dining experience. The environment encourages teamwork, personal growth, and upholding Panera’s core values of warmth, belonging, and trust.

Panera supports its team members with competitive pay and eligibility for team tips, making it a financially attractive opportunity. Additional benefits include free on-shift meals and unlimited fountain beverages, flexible and reliable scheduling to accommodate work-life balance, and paid vacation, sick time, and holidays for full-time employees. Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and even pet insurance options are available, along with a 401(k) plan that includes a company match, highlighting Panera's commitment to employee wellness and future security.

For those interested in career progression, Panera offers leadership development programs and tuition discounts to support further education and professional advancement. Employees also benefit from various perks and rewards as part of Panera’s team, as well as access to a member assistance program for personal and financial support. The company encourages a culture of learning, teamwork, and positivity where every team member’s contribution is celebrated.

Overall, the Salad and Sandwich Maker position at Panera Bread is ideal for individuals 16 years and older who have a basic understanding of food safety, ideally hold a Food Handler's Card, and enjoy the fast-paced yet rewarding nature of food service. This role requires physical stamina, the ability to communicate effectively in a bustling environment, and a commitment to embodying Panera’s Guiding Values by making people smile, taking initiative, and working collaboratively with others. Joining Panera means becoming part of a company that values not just the food it serves but the people who make it possible, creating exceptional experiences for both guests and team members alike.
