Job Description
Panera Bread is a renowned bakery-cafe chain that thrives on its commitment to quality, community, and culinary excellence. Known for its freshly baked bread, wholesome ingredients, and warm, inviting atmosphere, Panera has grown into a beloved establishment offering a welcoming space for guests to enjoy delicious meals made with care. The company emphasizes employee well-being, professional growth, and an inclusive, supportive work culture, making it a top choice for individuals seeking meaningful careers in the food service industry. With a strong footing in fast-casual dining, Panera is dedicated to crafting real food that is both nutritious and tasty, delivered with exceptional customer service.
This particular opportunity is for the role of Retail Team Member, specializing as a Salad and Sandwich Maker. This is a dynamic position ideal for those who enjoy working with fresh ingredients and creating delightful menu items beyond the typical fast-food experience. The Salad and Sandwich Maker is responsible for preparing and assembling fresh salads, plating soups, and making sandwiches that meet Panera's high standards for quality and presentation. Unlike fast-food assembly lines, this role requires attention to detail and a genuine appreciation for real, wholesome food ingredients.
Team members in this role will engage actively in daily operations, maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a pleasant, efficient work environment for both themselves and their colleagues. They are encouraged to stay upbeat and positive through daily challenges, adapting seamlessly to changing demands. The position requires working knowledge of food safety practices, positioning the employee as both a food handler and customer service ambassador.
At Panera, the work culture emphasizes warmth, belonging, growth, and trust. Employees are supported through competitive pay structures, flexible scheduling, and a suite of benefits including paid vacation and sick time, medical and dental insurance, vision and life insurance, pet insurance, a 401(k) plan with matching, tuition discounts, and more. Career advancement opportunities and leadership development programs allow motivated individuals to grow within the company. Free meals during shifts, unlimited fountain beverages, and various perks contribute to an enjoyable and rewarding workplace experience.
The role also demands physical stamina, requiring team members to lift items up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and communicate effectively in a busy, often loud environment. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and have a basic understanding of food safety protocols, including possession of a Food Handler's Card where applicable. Experience in food service is preferred but not mandatory, making this a viable entry-point position for those passionate about developing a rewarding career in the culinary service field.
By joining Panera as a Retail Team Member, Salad and Sandwich Maker, individuals become part of a company that values sharing and community, where the best thing about bread is indeed sharing it. This opportunity not only offers a job but a chance to be part of something bigger, contributing positively to guests' experiences and making everyday meals memorable and fantastic.
