Job Description

Panera Bread is a leading bakery-cafe chain known for its commitment to high-quality food made with real ingredients and served in a warm, inviting environment. Founded in 1987, Panera has grown substantially, developing a national reputation for not only its delicious breads and sandwiches but also its dedication to creating a positive work culture. With thousands of locations across the United States and Canada, Panera strives to be more than just a place to eat; it aims to foster community connections and provide outstanding customer service. At Panera, the philosophy is simple: people come first. This applies to both customers and the team members who help make every visit enjoyable and memorable. The company places a significant emphasis on supporting its employees' growth, offering career development opportunities, inclusive work environments, and a range of benefits designed to help team members succeed both personally and professionally.

The role of Retail Team Member, specifically the Salad and Sandwich Maker, is integral to Panera's mission of crafting fresh, high-quality food while delivering exceptional guest experiences. This position involves preparing and assembling fresh salads, plating soups, and making sandwiches using real ingredients—without the feel of an impersonal fast-food assembly line. The Salad and Sandwich Maker plays a critical role in ensuring that all menu items meet the company’s high standards for quality, accuracy, and presentation. Successful employees in this role approach each task, from assembling orders to maintaining cleanliness and organization, with a positive attitude and a commitment to teamwork.

Candidates for this position will enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced environment where flexibility and a willingness to learn are key. The role offers competitive pay and eligibility for team tips, alongside benefits such as free on-shift meals, unlimited fountain beverages, and flexible scheduling designed to accommodate diverse lifestyles. Full-time team members gain access to paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and comprehensive insurance options including medical, dental, vision, life, and even pet insurance. Panera also supports educational advancement through tuition discounts and promotes career growth through leadership development opportunities.

Working at Panera as a Salad and Sandwich Maker also means becoming part of a wider culture that values warmth, belonging, and mutual respect. Employees are encouraged to embody the company's guiding values by making people smile, working collaboratively, taking initiative, and celebrating success. This role requires the ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods, quickly adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain clear communication even in a busy, noisy environment. Overall, Panera offers an enriching, supportive workplace where individuals can thrive, develop new skills, and enjoy meaningful work in the foodservice industry.
