Job Description
This opportunity is offered by a reputable organization focused on the safety and well-being of its community members, including residents and staff. The company operates within a campus setting, likely residential or mixed-use, dedicated to providing a secure and safe environment. They understand the importance of maintaining safety measures and quick emergency responses to ensure continuous protection against hazards such as fire, theft, vandalism, and other safety risks. This part-time position, with shifts primarily in the evenings and nights, is ideal for individuals committed to flexible scheduling and a proactive approach to security and safety protocols.
The role centers on being a vigilant and responsive security presence on campus, with responsibility for patrolling buildings, grounds, residential zones, and parking areas to deter and detect safety hazards and unauthorized actions. The Security Officer is equipped with a key fob system that records patrol checks, ensuring thorough and consistent monitoring. Duties include responding swiftly to health and emergency calls as first responder, closely collaborating with emergency services when necessary. The role also involves managing occasional physical tasks such as snow removal from sidewalks and driveways using shovels and snow blowers, as well as applying salt to icy surfaces to maintain safety.
Traffic control is another important aspect of the role, requiring the officer to monitor parking areas, keep fire lanes clear, and manage traffic flow to prevent obstructions. The Security Officer is expected to investigate and report motor vehicle incidents, making diligent documentation of complaints, visitor accidents, and other incidents requiring corrective action. Candidates must hold a clean, valid New York State driver's license and a current NYS Security License to qualify for this position.
Working hours for this role vary, with typical weekday and weekend evening shifts from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is also the possibility of overnight shifts, demanding flexibility and availability. The pay range is competitive, from $17.00 to $25.50 per hour, reflecting the responsibilities and expertise required in this critical role.
This Security Officer position demands a high degree of reliability, situational awareness, physical stamina, and commitment to uphold the safety standards of the campus. It offers a dynamic work environment with varied duties and a direct impact on the well-being of residents, staff, visitors, and property. If you thrive in a role where attention to detail, proactive safety measures, and emergency response readiness are essential, this could be an excellent opportunity to serve and protect within a dedicated community environment.
