Job Description
ACCO Engineered Systems is a leading mechanical contractor in the United States, with a rich history dating back to 1934. Known for its commitment to superior design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and service of commercial and industrial mechanical systems, ACCO specializes in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, process piping, and building automation. Trusted by renowned clients including the California Academy of Sciences, L.A. Live, and the San Francisco 49ers Stadium, ACCO serves a diverse range of projects from low and high-rise office buildings to semiconductor fabrication and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. As a 100% employee-owned ESOP company, ACCO combines the strength of a large industry leader with a close-knit, family-oriented corporate culture. With a workforce that often spans decades of service, ACCO values dedication, entrepreneurship, and a customer-first mindset among its team members.
The Senior Safety Professional at ACCO plays a pivotal role in fostering workplace safety and regulatory compliance across multiple job sites. This position involves developing, implementing, and auditing safety programs and policies, working closely with field employees, supervisors, and management to build and sustain a strong culture of safety. Responsibilities include facilitating safety training, coaching team members on safe practices, leading incident investigations, and coordinating injury management. The role demands proactive engagement with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies like OSHA. As a hands-on safety expert, the Senior Safety Professional ensures that all safety plans are site-specific, compliant with customer and regulatory requirements, and effectively communicated and enforced.
This full-time non-exempt position typically requires working Monday through Friday, with hours scheduled between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, though occasional work outside regular hours may be necessary. Compensation ranges from $50 to $60 per hour, influenced by factors such as experience, certifications, education, and work location. The role also includes travel between multiple job sites and involves physical tasks like moving equipment up to 25 lbs, standing or walking on uneven terrain, working at heights above 20 feet, and operating in varying climate conditions while using personal protective equipment.
ACCO's Senior Safety Professional is expected to be a seasoned safety expert with at least seven years of relevant experience in construction, maintenance, safety, or operations, preferably with a background in mechanical contracting or commercial/industrial construction. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. CHST or CSP certification is required, along with a valid driver’s license. Strong skills in leadership, communication, analytical thinking, and multitasking in fast-paced environments are essential to excel in this role.
This is an opportunity to join a respected company that not only leads the mechanical contracting industry but also fosters continuous growth, technical curiosity, and professionalism among its workforce. ACCO is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and hiring U.S. military veterans. Candidates looking for a challenging and impactful role in safety management will find a supportive and dynamic environment at ACCO.
