Job Description
Osmose Utilities is a market-leading company specializing in critical resiliency, assessment, and restoration services for electric transmission, distribution, and telecommunications companies. With a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence, Osmose provides innovative solutions to ensure utility infrastructure remains safer, longer lasting, and more resilient. Employing field technicians, professional engineers, scientists, and corrosion experts, the company leverages advanced knowledge and expertise to identify and solve infrastructure-related challenges across the United States, particularly in the Southeast region. Osmose is recognized for its comprehensive approach in serving utility clients, enhancing utility service reliability, and improving the overall safety standards in the industry.
The Safety Manager Leader position in Wood & Technical Services at Osmose Utilities is a vital leadership role responsible for the development, implementation, and management of safety programs related to electrical power and communications utility services. This role requires a proactive professional who will contribute to and lead safety plans, policies, training, and audits to comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and industry best practices. This position is designed to manage a team of field safety specialists and engage collaboratively with operations leadership, field management, and on-site crews. The goal is to enhance safe operational practices and continuously improve safety performance metrics.
The ideal candidate for this position will live in one of the Southeast U.S. states including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi, North Carolina, or Tennessee, and must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Osmose values a leader with a demonstrated history of safety management experience within distributed workforces, preferably in field service industries involving both skilled and unskilled labor. This role demands creativity and a strategic approach to employee and supervisor engagement around safety initiatives.
Primary responsibilities emphasize safety oversight in underground operations, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety plan development. The Safety Manager will monitor safety performance metrics such as leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and implement corrective measures. Providing guidance and mentoring to operational personnel on meeting the highest safety standards and regulatory compliance is integral to this role. The manager will also review new service offerings and customer project proposals to anticipate risks, lead pre-project safety planning, and coordinate safety training and proficiency demonstrations.
The job also requires maintaining a consistent on-site presence to conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits, delivering real-time coaching to improve safety knowledge and behaviors. Managing subcontractor safety through pre-qualifications, orientation, and ongoing audits forms a critical part of the duties. Engagement with customers through meetings and worksite visits is expected, fostering strong client relationships and transparent communication.
Beyond operational safety, this role includes ownership of assigned safety programs, assisting with policy reviews, and contributing to safety communications and training tools. Cross-functional collaboration with other business lines and support of adjacent services enhances the company’s comprehensive safety culture.
Osmose Utilities offers a full-time position with a competitive salary starting from $90,000 per year. Benefits include medical insurance with company contributions to Health Savings Accounts, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability, critical illness plans, 401(k) plans with excellent company matching, and paid time off. The role requires regular nationwide travel, approximately 25% to 75%, and is remote-based, providing flexibility and extensive opportunities for professional growth and impact.
