Delaware North is a renowned global hospitality and food service company with a rich legacy of over 100 years. Its Parks and Resorts Division at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida, plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at one of the world’s most iconic attractions. Since 1995, Delaware North has been the trusted food and beverage and retail partner at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which serves as NASA’s official visitor center. The Complex features a variety of exhibits, historic spacecraft, memorabilia, educational camps, IMAX theaters, and bus tours that attract millions of visitors each year. Delaware North’s commitment to providing outstanding service in unique locations extends across sports venues, national parks, casinos, and hotels worldwide, making it a leader in the hospitality industry. The company values its team members as part of a global legacy and emphasizes career growth, inclusivity, and a supportive work environment.
The Safety Manager role at Delaware North’s Parks and Resorts Division is a full-time leadership position that offers a competitive salary range of $68,300 to $92,200 annually, alongside an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance. This position is based in Merritt Island, Florida, and focuses on overseeing and enhancing safety programs related to complex, world-class attractions, specifically theme park rides and the transition from construction phases to live operational activities. As a Safety Manager, you will set the strategic vision for the Safety Department, identifying potential risks, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and conducting thorough operational assessments to safeguard both guests and employees. The role requires proactive crisis management and a hands-on leadership approach to foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
You will be responsible for directing and managing the development and implementation of safety information systems and program documentation, coordinating casualty activities such as claims and loss control, and conducting on-site investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective action. This role also includes liaising with third-party claims administrators to manage workers’ compensation claims efficiently and reduce associated costs. As a key leader, you will collaborate closely with Human Resources and corporate stakeholders to analyze emerging risks and drive hazard elimination initiatives, including safety design reviews. Driving company vehicles on-site and working various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays are required aspects of the role.
Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or a related field, with at least five years of experience in risk management or workers’ compensation claims environments. Experience managing safety programs in operational environments with mechanical ride systems or immersive attractions is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, inspection protocols, and incident management is essential, along with demonstrated leadership skills in risk prevention and claims administration. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential is a plus. This position is key to supporting safe, efficient, and innovative guest experiences while guiding the organization through growth and operational changes in a vibrant, fast-paced setting.
