Lunda Construction is currently seeking a Safety Manager to join their Milwaukee, WI office. This position is critical in sustaining the company’s commitment to safety by developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs that align with federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. Reporting directly to the Safety Director, the Safety Manager will collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and corporate leadership to foster a culture of safety excellence across multiple construction sites. This role is responsible for minimizing risks, preventing incidents, and maintaining a safe working environment by leading company safety and health programs for various construction and yard operations.
The Safety Manager’s responsibilities include ensuring compliance with key federal regulatory bodies such as OSHA, FRA, FMCSA, and MSHA, conducting site inspections, and performing risk assessments to detect hazards and implement corrective measures. They will also lead safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and orientations and spearhead investigations into accidents, near misses, and damage incidents to develop preventative strategies. Additionally, this role involves managing worker compensation claims, coordinating safety communications with subcontractors and regulatory agencies, and assisting with emergency response and industrial hygiene initiatives.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Health or related field preferred
- 5+ years of construction safety management experience
- strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and risk management
- experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- strong leadership, communication, and training skills
- proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- OSHA 500, CHST, ASP, or CSP certification preferred
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Lead and administer company safety and health programs for construction and yard operations
- ensure compliance with OSHA, FRA, FMCSA, MSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
- conduct regular jobsite inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- partner with project leadership to promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives
- participate in pre-construction meetings and develop project-specific safety plans and procedures
- coordinate and deliver safety orientations, training programs, toolbox talks, and other safety meetings
- lead investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage events and implement corrective and preventative measures
- monitor safety performance metrics and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- maintain accurate safety records, reports, logs, certifications, and regulatory documentation
- manage worker compensation claims and return-to-work programs
- coordinate safety-related communications with subcontractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and insurance representatives
- assist with emergency response planning, crisis management, and site-specific rescue procedures
- assist with industrial hygiene activities including exposure monitoring, recordkeeping, and control implementation
- recommend and implement improvements to safety policies, procedures, and training programs
