The Safety Manager role based in the Chicago Heights, Illinois plant is an integral position within Innophos. This experienced and proactive leader will be entrusted with steering health and safety initiatives to enhance workplace safety culture and compliance. Tasked with the continuous improvement of safety performance, the Safety Manager will develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies that align with all company, local, state, and federal regulations. The individual in this position will lead key safety programs including training development, regulatory compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

As a strategic leader, the Safety Manager will spearhead weekly safety meetings, champion Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) training and communication, and ensure the site complies with OSHA requirements through diligent recordkeeping and safety audits. This role requires close collaboration with the Corporate Environmental Department to promote robust environmental initiatives and the management of workers' compensation claims, incident reporting, and process safety management practices. The Safety Manager will also mentor a team member, fostering their professional development and commitment to safety excellence.

This position offers a salary range from $91,000 to $135,000 annually, with exact salary depending on factors such as education, skills, licenses, certifications, experience, and training. This role is ideal for an individual with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or related fields, with at least 10 years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in chemical or food sectors. The position requires certified expertise, such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation, strong communication skills, and a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial chemical processes. Physical requirements include both office-based work and frequent field visits necessitating the use of personal protective equipment.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in health and safety role within manufacturing environment, preferably chemical or food industry

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Design, implement and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures
  • Develop and execute training programs for managers and employees
  • Ensure site adherence to OSHA regulations and conduct safety audits
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate EHS training initiatives
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify EHS risks and recommend corrective actions
  • Spearhead Root Cause Analysis for incidents and near misses
  • Collaborate with Corporate Environmental Department on environmental programs
  • Manage workplace incident reporting and follow-up
  • Oversee site Workers Compensation claims
  • Champion Process Safety Management practices
  • Perform routine job skills analysis and task assessments
  • Promote safety culture and demonstrate management commitment
  • Manage and mentor one safety professional
