The Safety Coordinator role at NRI Distribution is designed to act as the champion of health and safety within the operations team. This position is essential in driving the company’s safety initiatives by providing expertise, training, and support to enhance employees' health and safety awareness. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all practices comply with applicable safety regulations and standards, including OSHA regulations. The role includes maintaining detailed safety compliance records and managing communication efforts to promote safety in an engaging and effective manner. By leading training sessions, coaching managers and supervisors, and reinforcing the company’s safety policies, this role helps cultivate a workplace culture that prioritizes safety and minimizes risks.

Job Requirements

  • 12 plus months of direct safety experience
  • associates degree in environmental, health and safety related field or equivalent to 2 years of related experience
  • knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
  • OSHA 10/30 certification desirable
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, walk and stand for extended periods, climb ladders/stairs, tolerate conditions such as dust, noise, odors, heat, cold
  • trustworthy and moral character
  • pass pre-employment background and drug tests
  • available to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree in environmental, health and safety related field or equivalent experience
  • minimum 12 months of direct safety experience
  • knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • experience using Microsoft Office in a professional capacity
  • ability to maintain confidentiality regarding security and personnel issues
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in teams

Job Duties

  • Lead and support safety ambassador meetings
  • review incident and accident trends and present safety opportunities
  • maintain safety training schedule and create a culture of mindfulness of safety practices and incentive programs
  • practice safe working techniques and reinforce safety policies, guidelines, and regulatory legislation
  • provide subject matter expert guidance and leadership to assist company compliance with rules and regulations
  • track, maintain, and archive all safety training documentation and databases
  • conduct monthly building audits and communicate corrections to appropriate departments
  • ensure completion of safety incident and injury investigation reports with operations management
  • conduct root cause analysis and incident investigations
  • track and communicate post-accident/incident investigations and corrective action measures
  • assist with post-accident/reasonable suspension drug testing program
  • ensure contractors, personnel, and visitors comply with company safety policies and maintain contractors/vendor safety program
  • identify safety policies to ensure all safe practices and equipment are utilized in training
  • host and facilitate equipment operator certification classes and in-house training sessions
  • assist with maintaining the site emergency response plan and procedures
