The Runner position at Alamo Drafthouse plays a pivotal role in maintaining the outstanding guest experience that the establishment is known for. As part of the service staff, Runners ensure timely delivery of all ordered food and drinks to guests, being the final checkpoint between the kitchen/bar and the customer. Their responsibilities extend beyond simple delivery; they inspect every item before it reaches the guest to guarantee quality and accuracy. This role requires a keen eye for detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to support the overall dining experience by assisting servers and keeping the theater clean and inviting. Runners must also adhere strictly to alcohol service regulations to promote safety and compliance.
This position is hourly and non-exempt, reporting directly to the venue Manager. While the specific location is to be determined, the role demands flexibility and a proactive approach to teamwork and guest service. Runners must be passionate about hospitality, possess strong knowledge of the menu to assist guests effectively, and be able to handle various duties, including pre-shift preparation, maintaining clean and organized stations, and performing opening or closing tasks. The job involves physical activity such as standing, walking, lifting, and bending throughout the shift. Job Requirements
- Stand and walk 100% of shift
- Reach, bend, stoop and wipe frequently
- Able to deliver plates, food and drinks and clear tables which may require lifting as much as 50 lbs
- Able to read and write English
- Able to verbalize and clearly respond to guests
- Able to read and write handwritten notes
Job Qualifications
- Local health cards as required and valid TABC certification
- Must be positive, fun, coachable and open minded
- Excellence staff and guest relation skills
Job Duties
- Ensures that all guests have an awesome experience and are excited to come back
- Possess proficient knowledge of the menu to explain offerings, inform guests of food promotions and specials, and answer questions
- Serves food and beverages to guests in a timely manner including retrieving food orders from the kitchen and transporting them to guests in various sections
- Ability to assess guest demeanor and identify when behavior should be called to the attention of a manager
- Follow alcohol awareness procedures for identifying age, preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests as needed
- Maintains theater appearance by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, removing clutter and providing adequate napkins
- Completes pre-shift prep work and maintains appropriate volumes of prepped items
