The hiring establishment is a dynamic and fast-paced restaurant focused on delivering an exceptional dining experience by ensuring seamless coordination between the kitchen and the guests. As a runner/expo, you play a critical role acting as the lynchpin between the culinary team and the front-of-house staff, ensuring that dishes are delivered promptly and accurately. This position involves constant motion and requires someone who is attentive, quick on their feet, and capable of multitasking effectively. As the runner/expo, you will be responsible for overseeing the accurate completion of orders, describing each dish to guests, and managing any special requests that arise during service. Your ability to communicate effectively between the kitchen and the serving team will help maintain the smooth flow of the dining room and ensure that guests receive their meals promptly while enjoying the highest standards of service.
Your role will include reading order tickets, finishing plates in preparation for serving, and ensuring that all meals leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant’s presentation and quality standards. You will also be expected to assist servers with side work during slower periods, maintain the cleanliness and organization of the workstation, and ensure that both the back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) are fully stocked with all necessary items.
In addition to the hands-on responsibilities, you will act as a hospitality ambassador by describing the dishes being delivered to guests, attending to their requests, and ensuring their satisfaction before returning to the kitchen. This enhances the overall guest experience by adding a personal touch and demonstrating the restaurant’s dedication to customer care. You will also troubleshoot issues as they arise and coordinate with team members to provide swift resolution, helping maintain the upbeat and efficient flow of service.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a runner or expo preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Physical stamina to be on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Basic knowledge of restaurant operations
Job Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment preferred
- Strong communication skills

Job Duties
- Read tickets finish plates and run food or delegate to a team member
- Describe dish being dropped at the guest's table and ensure they are satisfied before returning to the kitchen
- Retrieve any items guests may need to accompany their meal
- Assist servers in side work during down times
- Be sure station is set with all items needed by both the BOH and the FOH
- Maintain a clean workstation
