As a Cook 1, you will play an essential role in the culinary team by maintaining food quality standards and ensuring guest satisfaction with every dish prepared. This position involves carrying out essential cooking duties that range from basic food preparation to intermediate cooking techniques. Duties include washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring ingredients, preparing salads and cold foods, and performing frying, stock preparation, and batch cooking. The role also requires assembling, garnishing, and finalizing the presentation of dishes while using kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils safely and effectively. A key part of this position will be maintaining a safe, sanitary, and organized workspace by working closely with kitchen stewards.

Additionally, individuals in this role will learn to perform advanced cooking tasks, support fellow team members, assist with inventory storage and rotation, and perform opening and closing duties. The position offers the opportunity to work in multiple kitchens or venues to gain valuable knowledge across different culinary settings. Full compliance with all departmental internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations is mandatory to uphold operational standards. The role also requires physical stamina, as it involves standing, walking, lifting moderately heavy items, and working in varying temperature environments, from hot ovens and cooktops to cold prep areas. The Cook 1 position requires interpersonal skills to maintain professional interactions with guests and team members alike. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3 to 6 months of related cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to achieve ServSafe certification within 90 days
  • Ability to complete Culinary Academy within 12 months
  • Ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to interact professionally with guests and team members
  • Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance
  • Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to work in varying temperature environments
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to work near moving parts and kitchen equipment safely

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform basic to intermediate food preparation and cooking duties including washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring ingredients
  • Prepare salads and cold foods
  • Fry, stock, and batch cook
  • Assemble, garnish, and finalize presentation of completed dishes
  • Use and clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils safely including ovens, grills, fryers, broilers, and knives
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment, working closely with stewards
  • Learn to perform more advanced kitchen and cooking duties and assist other members of the culinary team
  • Assist in storing and rotating all inventories as needed
  • Perform opening and closing duties as needed
  • Work at other kitchens and venues as assigned
  • Perform job duties in full compliance with departmental internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
