The RPSGT Day Sleep Technician role at Pulmonary Associates of Richmond is an essential position within the sleep disorders program. This full-time role involves comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients suffering from various sleep disorders. The Sleep Technician works primarily at the Waterford and West Broad PAR Sleep Center locations, providing expert care and technical support to patients undergoing sleep studies and therapy. Responsibilities include scoring nighttime sleep studies, educating patients on CPAP therapy, performing mask fittings, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers, and maintaining accurate documentation within the electronic medical record system. This role demands a highly detail-oriented and patient-focused professional capable of delivering excellent customer service while adhering to HIPAA regulations and PAR's standards of care. Technicians will also participate in ongoing education and quality improvement programs such as the AASM interscorer reliability program and must obtain continuing education units annually. Those employed in this position can expect to be engaged in a dynamic, fast-paced medical environment requiring flexibility to work at any of PAR's three locations as needed. The role offers hourly pay ranging from $30.00 to $38.00 based on experience, alongside a $6,000 sign-on bonus divided equally between the six-month and one-year employment milestones. RPSGT licensure
Virginia licensure
High school diploma or equivalent
One year experience preferred
Ability to work at multiple locations as needed
Willingness to participate in continuing education programs

Capacity to troubleshoot technical sleep equipment issues

Familiarity with sleep study equipment and CPAP therapy procedures

Job Duties

Score nighttime sleep studies including sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to accepted guidelines and clinic protocols and generate accurate reports by tabulating data
Educate patients about CPAP therapy and perform mask fittings
Perform download of CPAP machine data cards
Troubleshoot CPAP mask and machine problems and work with patient to find solution to increase compliance
Coordinate with DME company regarding patient’s CPAP machine including completing and faxing paperwork for initial setups and writing and faxing RX for equipment
Respond to voicemails and EMR messages within timeframe set by PAR
Accurately document patient activity phone calls etc. in EMR
Coordinate home sleep studies including instructing patients on the proper use of home sleep units completing all paperwork and uploading completed studies for physician review
Fax sleep study results to referring physicians
Troubleshoot sleep software and equipment
Evaluate sleep study related equipment and inventory
Maintain cleanliness of lab by cleaning and disinfecting equipment
Communicate with night technicians regarding patient needs questions etc.
Be willing and able to work at any of PAR's three locations on a moment’s notice
Schedule appointments for patients to pick up Auto PAP machines for at-home Auto PAP titrations and instruct patients in proper machine use
Perform in-lab diagnostic PSGs split-night studies and titration studies as needed in accordance with established protocols
Perform actigraphy testing
Participate in AASM interscorer reliability program once per month
Obtain 10 CEUs per year
Adhere to Pulmonary Associates’ standards of excellent customer service
Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy and security
Perform other duties as required by providers manager or administration
