The role of School Bus Router at Krise Transportation is pivotal in maintaining safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation routes for school districts. As a School Bus Router, the successful candidate will work under the supervision of a manager to develop and implement routing plans that optimize fleet utilization without compromising student safety or instructional time. This position is hourly and non-exempt, offering a competitive base pay with benefits including company-paid life insurance and optional dental and vision plans at employee expense. The School Bus Router is not only responsible for managing computerized routing systems by creating, updating, and deleting routes, but also for continuous route analysis, improving route efficiency through strategic planning, and ensuring compliance with transportation guidelines. Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid School Bus CDL License

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage the computerized routing, including creating, updating, and deleting routes ensuring all students are assigned transportation
  • Conduct continuous analysis of routes, vehicle, and driver assignments for consolidation and improvements
  • Analyze transportation requests to optimize fleet utilization without compromising student safety or instructional time
  • Assist with planning and implementing routing, vehicle scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize economical use of assets
  • Collaborate with school districts to comply with transportation guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Communicate routing information to parents, school officials, drivers, monitors, and office staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate documentation of routes, times, addresses, phone numbers, and special transportation requirements
  • Observe and track route timing using GPS technology and ride-along evaluations to enhance efficiency
  • Submit required reports including transportation requests, routing changes, and complaints
  • Assist with collection and reporting of data for annual state transportation reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local Department of Transportation guidelines
  • Obtain and maintain School Bus CDL License
  • Provide substitute bus driving as needed
  • Travel occasionally to different company locations for route review
  • Assist dispatcher and office staff as needed
