The company prides itself on fostering a community of food people who are passionate about their work and committed to delivering high-quality food products to customers. With a long history of industry experience and a commitment to employee growth and development, US FOODS offers a dynamic environment where careers can flourish. The organization values teamwork, safety, and customer satisfaction, making it a top choice for those seeking to build a career in the food distribution industry.

The Router position at US FOODS plays a vital role in supporting the company’s transportation operations. This role is primarily focused on scheduling and sequencing delivery routes in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. Utilizing computerized routing software like RoadNet, the Router assigns customer orders to appropriate trucks based on factors such as trailer load balance, weight, size, and pallet configuration. The goal is to create safe, cost-effective delivery routes that meet customer service requirements while maximizing operational efficiency. The Router collaborates closely with Transportation, Warehouse, and Sales teams to ensure that routes are feasible and deliveries are made on time. Additionally, the role involves preparing and maintaining daily routing reports, including handling route change requests and new customer requests, as well as monitoring routing efficiency and recommending improvements.

This role operates primarily in an office environment but requires frequent interaction with warehouse and transportation operations. Occasional exposure to warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas, is expected. The position follows a Sunday through Thursday schedule from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with some flexibility and overtime hours based on business needs. Compensation for this role ranges between $28.00 and $33.00 per hour, with overtime pay as applicable.

US FOODS offers a comprehensive benefits package starting on the first day of employment, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, a 401(k) plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), life insurance, paid time off, and a strong safety culture.
