Job Description

UniFirst is a prominent international leader in the garment services industry, operating within an $18 billion market. With over 16,000 team partners, UniFirst provides essential services to around 300,000 business customer locations across the United States, Canada, and Europe. The company is distinguished for its strong reputation in the sales sector, having been ranked in the top 10 of Selling Power magazine's "Best Companies to Sell For" and earning recognition on Forbes magazine's "Platinum 400 – Best Big Companies" list. UniFirst prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, emphasizing equal opportunity in its hiring and employment practices irrespective of race, gender, national origin, disability, and other protected status categories. This inclusive culture allows team members to thrive while contributing to the success of a global leader rooted in community and commitment to quality service.

The Route Trainee (RT) position at UniFirst offers a dynamic and growth-oriented introduction into the company’s service and customer care operations. As a Route Trainee, individuals embark on a comprehensive and hands-on training journey through UniFirst's robust Service Certificate Program, designed to prepare trainees for advancement to the Route Service Representative (RSR) role. The role blends classroom learning with practical experience in daily operations including route support, deliveries, and customer service. Route Trainees assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring that daily operations begin promptly and accurately. They also deliver clean garments and products to customers and collect soiled items for processing, ensuring reliable and timely service with every stop.

This position involves stepping in to provide route coverage during RSR absences, maintaining UniFirst’s high standards for customer service, safety, and professionalism. Operating company walk-in trucks along established routes, Route Trainees become key representatives of UniFirst on the road, tasked with reinforcing strong customer relationships while prioritizing safety in every interaction. This role is physically active and requires working both indoors and outdoors, demanding attention to detail and consistent safety adherence.

UniFirst offers Route Trainees a stable, predictable schedule with weekday hours, avoiding nights and weekends, thus promoting a balanced work-life environment. Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the Route Trainee role is viewed as a career gateway, offering a clear path to a full-time, commissioned Route Service Representative position. This opportunity is ideal for motivated, customer-focused individuals eager to build a foundational career in a field-based service role with the potential for advancement and personal growth. Embarking on this role at UniFirst means joining a company that values dependability, collaboration, and excellent customer service, all while supporting ongoing development through formal training and career progression programs.
