Job Description
Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO) is a prominent leader in the packaged bakery goods industry in the United States, renowned for its dedication to crafting delightful experiences through their exceptional range of baked products. In 2024, Flowers Foods achieved sales of $5.1 billion, underscoring its strong position in the market and its widespread recognition among consumers. The company’s portfolio features cherished brands such as Nature's Own, Wonder, Dave's Killer Bread, Canyon Bakehouse, and Tastykake. Each brand exemplifies a unique blend of wholesome nutrition, bold artisanal flavors, and irresistible sweetness, catering to diverse consumer preferences and enhancing everyday moments with delicious quality baked goods. Beyond producing bakery products, Flowers Foods embodies a vibrant corporate culture anchored on core values such as honesty and integrity, respect and inclusion, sustainability, passion, and humility. This culture shapes the company’s approach to innovation, operational excellence, and community engagement, making it much more than a bakery – it is a journey into the heart of flavor and community connection.
This job opening is for the role of Route Sales Trainee (RST), an essential position for Flowers Foods’ sales and delivery operations. This full-time position offers competitive compensation starting at $22.88 per hour during training, transitioning to an attractive base salary plus commission once fully qualified. As an RST, you will engage in comprehensive training to acquire the skills required to become a successful Route Sales Representative (RSR) or Route Delivery Driver (RDD). Your training encompasses learning how to sort, inventory, build, load, deliver, and merchandise daily orders of bakery products to retail customers efficiently and accurately. A critical part of the RST role involves invoicing products accurately at delivery, meeting customer expectations, and adhering to best practices.
The position demands flexibility to work during non-traditional business hours, weekends, holidays, and potentially overnight travel outside the assigned location. The job involves daily interaction with the general public and retail customers, necessitating a professional and neat appearance, often involving adherence to a company uniform. As Flowers Foods is registered with the Department of Transportation as a private motor carrier, RSTs must safely operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) exceeding a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds under state and federal safety regulations. The role requires stringent compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations including daily vehicle inspections, maintenance reporting, driver logs, and participation in roadside inspections. Furthermore, RSTs are responsible for organizing inventory to prevent product damage, leveraging sales data and marketing plans to grow sales, and supporting retail promotions and merchandising efforts. This role is designed for individuals eager to gain industry knowledge, develop sales and delivery skills, and grow within a company renowned for valuing its employees and customers alike.
