The Route Sales Specialist (RSS) role at Bimbo Bakeries USA is critical to the company's mission of ensuring product availability and customer satisfaction. This position operates primarily on a 4-day, 10-hour shift schedule, typically overnight, and offers an hourly wage of $24.84. The RSS is responsible for following established procedures and business practices to maximize route potential, delivering fresh products to existing customers, setting up new accounts, and merchandising products to ensure optimal presentation and sales. This role requires close collaboration with customers and the sales team to support all sales initiatives and achieve business objectives.
Route Sales Specialists play a vital role in customer development, involving tasks such as ordering, distribution, merchandising, promotional activities, holiday planning, and verifying that customer expectations are met. They act as a link between the company and its customers, explaining promotional activities and ensuring customer satisfaction. The role also involves assisting with training new Route Sales Professionals, providing vacation relief, participating in rack resets, and coordinating with sales leadership to solve operational issues and improve route efficiency. This position demands physical endurance, as it requires the ability to climb, bend, push, pull, stoop, and kneel for extended periods, along with frequent use of hands and fingers. Candidates should have at least one to three years of related experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) and must meet specific regulatory requirements such as holding a valid driver's license, the ability to obtain and retain a DOT medical card, and the ability to obtain a Chauffeur License in certain states. Effective communication skills in English are essential to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, and maintain accurate records. Job Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and retain a DOT medical card
- Successfully able to obtain Chauffeur License if job location is in IN, MI, TN
- Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
- 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution preferred
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public and understand highway traffic signs
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Provide vacation relief for route sales professionals and loaders
- Assisting the sales leadership team in day-to-day operations and/or issues as needed
- Assists with the training of new route sales professionals
- Delivers fresh product to existing customers on open routes until new RSPs are trained
- Assists with rack resets
- Partners with route sales professionals to create alignment in account chains
- Manage route operation activity including ordering and distribution, merchandising, promotional activity, holiday planning and meeting customer expectations
