Bimbo Bakeries USA is currently seeking a Route Sales Specialist (RSS) to join their dynamic team. The Route Sales Specialist plays a critical role in delivering fresh products to existing customers, setting up new accounts, and merchandising to maximize sales opportunities. This full-time position offers a competitive base pay of $328 plus commission, with an annual average earning potential between $60,000 and $70,000. Candidates can expect an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement plan. In this position, the Route Sales Specialist will be responsible for maintaining route operations by following established procedures and good business practices to maximize route growth potential. The RSS will work closely with customers to support sales initiatives, handle ordering and merchandising, assist in rack resets, and help train new Route Sales Professionals. In addition to providing relief coverage for route sales professionals and loaders during vacations or absences, the employee will assist the Sales Leadership Team as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

This role requires regular communication with customers to explain promotional activities and delivery expectations. It also involves working in partnership with other Route Sales Professionals to align efforts across accounts within chains. The RSS will contribute to customer development by selling new products, gaining space and position for products, and delivering high-quality customer service, addressing any issues as they arise. Work locations may vary depending on staffing needs, adding to the dynamic nature of the position.

Job Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to obtain and retain a DOT medical card
  • successfully able to obtain chauffeur license (if job location is in IN, MI, TN)
  • ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD (Direct Sales Distribution) is preferred
  • ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records

Job Duties

  • Provide vacation relief for Route Sales Professionals and Loaders
  • assist the Sales Leadership Team in day-to-day operations and issues as needed
  • assist with the training of new Route Sales Professionals
  • deliver fresh product to existing customers on open routes until new RSPs are trained
  • assist with rack resets
  • partner with Route Sales Professionals to create alignment in account chains
  • route operation activity including ordering and distribution, merchandising, promotional activity, holiday planning and meeting customer expectations
  • communicate with customers to assist them in understanding promotional activity and delivery expectations
  • ensure product distribution is accomplished to customer satisfaction in agreement with contract terms and requirements
  • assist customer relations including selling new products and gaining space and position
  • provide a high level of customer service and solve customer issues as they arise
  • work location will vary depending on staffing needs
