The Route Sales Professional role at Bimbo Bakeries USA is an exciting opportunity to join this industry-leading company and become part of a nationwide family with 20,000 associates. This position offers a competitive weekly base pay of $315 plus commission, resulting in an average annual salary between $50,000 and $65,000. The role primarily involves driving assigned routes to merchandise, stock, and rotate products on store shelves and displays to ensure optimal freshness and product quality. The Route Sales Professional will utilize sales data to maximize sales and shelf space by securing new display opportunities and setting up incremental displays. Building and maintaining strong customer relationships is key, as is following up on new account opportunities and executing promotions effectively. This role includes important administrative responsibilities such as daily route settlements, handling invoices and cash, maintaining accurate inventory records, and filing required documentation in a timely manner. Driving safely and maintaining compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including daily logging, is essential to success in this role. The position offers a schedule from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm with two days off weekly, providing a balanced work-life dynamic.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain Chauffeur License (if job location is in IN, MI, TN)
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD is preferred
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) is preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English
  • Proficient in conducting sales and merchandising activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks independently

Job Duties

  • Merchandise, stock, and ensure the proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee the best quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring the execution of promotions
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products, invoices, and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT (US Department of Transportation) daily logs
  • Submit other required documentation, paperwork, and deposits on time
