The Route Sales Professional Extra role is a critical position within Bimbo Bakeries USA, focusing on supporting new Hy-Vee business accounts. This role offers a great opportunity to join the world’s largest baking company, contributing to the ongoing growth and success of its trusted brands. The position features a competitive weekly base pay plus commissions, with the annual average salary ranging from $50,000 to $65,000. The schedule consists of early shifts from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm, with Wednesday and Sunday off, promoting work-life balance.

In this role, associates are entrusted with responsibilities that are essential to ensuring product availability and optimal brand presentation at retail locations. Route Sales Professionals handle merchandising, stocking, and product rotation to guarantee freshness and quality on store shelves. They drive sales growth by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and utilizing sales data to inform store-level strategies. Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers is key, alongside the execution of promotions and introduction of new products and services to maximize shelf space and sales opportunities. Additional responsibilities include managing daily route settlements, maintaining inventory accuracy, and safe operation of delivery trucks according to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.

This is a role that demands physical stamina and a commitment to safety, requiring the ability to climb, bend, stoop, and perform other physical activities consistently. The position also requires compliance with several regulatory requirements such as holding a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card. For candidates in certain states (Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee), the ability to obtain a Chauffeur License is necessary. Those with 1-3 years of experience in Direct Sales Distribution (DSD) are preferred, ensuring familiarity with the sales and delivery process. Effective communication skills in English and the ability to comply with DOT regulations are essential to success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain Chauffeur License if job location is in IN, MI, TN
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods and perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution preferred
  • Ability to read and speak English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records

Job Duties

  • Merchandise, stock, and ensure proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring promotion execution
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for products, invoices, and cash while maintaining inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT daily logs
  • Submit required documentation, paperwork, and deposits on time
