The Route Sales Professional plays a vital role in the company's distribution chain, functioning as the direct link between Bimbo Bakeries USA and its retail customers. This full-time role entails daily route management where the associate is responsible for merchandising, stocking, and ensuring the proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee freshness and presentation at the highest standards. The position offers weekly base pay of $215 plus commission, averaging an annual salary between $55,000 and $60,000, and features a shift that starts early around 5 am with days off on Wednesday and Sunday.
In this role, the Route Sales Professional actively drives sales by securing new display space and setting up incremental displays while leveraging sales data to craft store-level sales strategies. They follow up on new account opportunities and cultivate strong, lasting relationships with customers, ensuring the execution of promotional activities and introducing new products and services. Administrative responsibilities include conducting daily route settlements by accounting for all products, invoices, and cash, maintaining appropriate inventory counts, submitting required documentation punctually, and operating the route truck safely while completing Department of Transportation daily logs.
Being a key player in the direct sales distribution (DSD) team, this position demands at least one to three years of related experience and requires physical stamina to climb, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and frequently reach and handle items. The ability to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card and a valid driver’s license, along with, if applicable, a Chauffer License for certain locations, is mandatory. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English sufficient to converse with the public, understand traffic signage, respond officially, and maintain accurate records, are also essential. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
- Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
- 1-3 years of related experience in DSD preferred
- Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand traffic signs, and complete records
- Successfully able to obtain Chauffer License (if job location is in IN, MI, TN)
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Capability to manage route logistics and maintain accurate inventory
- Proven ability to develop and nurture customer relationships
Job Duties
