The role of Route Sales Professional at Bimbo Bakeries USA is a dynamic and rewarding position vital to the company’s success in the direct store delivery distribution channel. This position offers a competitive compensation package, including a weekly base pay of $300 plus commission, averaging annual earnings between $55,000 and $65,000. Additionally, the role includes full benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, and a retirement plan, along with attractive sign-on and retention bonuses. The typical work schedule starts early between 3 am and 4 am, with Wednesdays and Sundays off, allowing for a balanced work-life rhythm.

As a Route Sales Professional, you will be the face of Bimbo Bakeries USA in retail environments, responsible for merchandising and maintaining the quality of products on shelves to ensure customer satisfaction. This position involves strategic sales activities including securing new display spaces, incremental displays to drive sales, and utilizing sales data to optimize store-level initiatives. Building and nurturing strong customer relationships is essential, as is the promotion and introduction of new products and services to both existing and prospective customers.

Additionally, this role requires accurate financial and inventory management through daily route settlement procedures and maintaining proper inventory counts. The Route Sales Professional will also safely operate company route trucks and comply with Department of Transportation regulations by completing necessary daily logs. Timely submission of all required documentation, paperwork, and deposits is a critical component of daily responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain chauffeur license if job location is in IN MI TN
  • Ability to climb push pull bend stoop and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language to respond to official inquiries and to make entries on reports and records
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD is preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Familiarity with retail merchandising practices
  • Basic math and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Job Duties

  • Merchandise stock and ensure proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee best quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space setting up incremental displays and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring execution of promotions
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products invoices and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT daily logs
  • Submit other required documentation paperwork and deposits on time
