The Route Sales Professional role at Bimbo Bakeries USA is a dynamic and vital position designed for individuals who excel at customer service, sales, and route distribution. This full-time role offers competitive compensation, including $350 weekly base pay plus commission, averaging a $60,000 to $85,000 annual income, along with a comprehensive benefits package consisting of medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans. The working schedule allows for Wednesdays and Sundays off, with shifts running from 4:00 am to 1:00 pm, balancing work responsibilities with personal time.

As a Route Sales Professional, you will be responsible for the merchandising, stocking, and rotation of bakery products across retail locations to ensure freshness and maximize sales. Driving sales through securing new display spaces and setting up promotional displays is a key function of this role. You will build and nurture strong customer relationships, follow up on new account opportunities, and introduce new products to existing and potential customers to boost market penetration. Accurate route settlements, inventory management, and adherence to Department of Transportation regulations by maintaining daily logs for company route trucks are essential administrative tasks. This role also requires the submission of necessary documentation and deposits within deadlines, supporting business operations and compliance.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain chauffeur license (if job location is in IN, MI, TN)
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) is preferred
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution (DSD) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to read and interpret highway traffic signs and signals in English
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Basic math and record-keeping abilities

Job Duties

  • Merchandise, stock, and ensure the proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee the best quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring the execution of promotions
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products, invoices, and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT (US Department of Transportation) daily logs
  • Submit other required documentation, paperwork, and deposits on time
